Verizon’s free unlimited data plan will be offered for the first time starting March 11.
For $30 a month, customers can get unlimited data, unlimited texting and video calls, and unlimited music downloads.
Verizon says this is a free trial period, and if you cancel within 30 days, you’ll be charged $50.
The offer ends March 31.
Here’s what you need to know.1.
I don’t qualify for a $50 phone plan?
Verizon has a similar offer for people who pay $50 per month on the Verizon Wireless plan, which is $60 per year.
That means anyone who’s in the $60 plan will get the same unlimited data and unlimited texting that you get on the $50 plan.
The $30 monthly plan will only be available to new customers.2.
Will this offer apply to new or existing customers?
The new plan is only for customers who bought their iPhone X in-store, and will apply only to customers who upgraded to the iPhone XS and iPhone X with an iPhone XC.
Verizon is also offering the same plan for existing customers.
Customers who don’t buy an iPhone and buy an XS or XC in-person will be billed $10 a month for that purchase, and Verizon says it will refund $10 if customers cancel or change their mind.
If you buy an existing iPhone and get a new iPhone, Verizon will refund the same amount.3.
Can I use this $30 iPhone X plan with my existing Verizon Unlimited data plan?
If your existing unlimited data service is still in good working order, you can keep using it with this plan.
Verizon said it plans to have a replacement iPhone available for free by March 31, but Verizon’s plan is currently not available for customers with new or older phones.4.
What happens if I cancel my plan?
If you cancel before the end of the trial period or cancel after the 30 day trial period ends, you’re billed $50 for the phone, but you’ll only get the $30 price for that phone, Verizon said.5.
What’s the deal on new iPhones?
If your phone is a Verizon device, you get unlimited texting, video and music, and voice calls.
If it’s an iPhone, you still get the unlimited data plans.
Verizon’s $30 plan will not be available for new iPhones.
If Verizon sells a new phone in-house, you may have to pay a different price.6.
Can Verizon give me a new smartphone to use as a new unlimited data phone?
No, but there’s a workaround.
If a Verizon customer buys a new device with an unlimited data device and it has an iPhone in-stock, the Verizon app will let you switch the phone to an iPhone with an Unlimited Data plan, but if you do that, Verizon won’t give you an unlimited plan.
You’ll still be charged the $15 cost of the phone you just purchased.
The plan you have in-hand will still be eligible for this new unlimited plan, so you’ll still get unlimited talk and text.
But if you buy the iPhone from a retailer, you won’t be able to switch to a device with a different unlimited plan and get unlimited calls and video.
If the device you purchased has an Unlimited Plan, you could be billed a higher monthly rate.
If this happens to you, Verizon recommends you go to the Verizon website and see if you qualify.7.
Can this plan be applied to new iPhones or iPads?
No in-market iPhones will not have this unlimited data option, Verizon added.
The company has a list of compatible devices, but some phones will not work.
The phone that’s in-work will still work, but not for a new Unlimited Plan.8.
Will my unlimited data deal apply to the same phones as the unlimited plan?
No: The Verizon Unlimited plan is just a trial, Verizon says.
If customers cancel, they’ll be billed the same price.9.
Can my new unlimited iPhone be used with my unlimited talk or text plan?
Not if you’re a Verizon Unlimited customer.
If that’s the case, Verizon’s list of phones does not include a “free unlimited data” phone like the iPhone, but a “special offer” phone, such as the iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s.
To get a special offer phone, you have to cancel or switch your unlimited data to an Unlimited Plans-only phone and then re-apply.
Verizon also says that if you switch your plan to Unlimited Data after a new-iPhone purchase, you’d have to use that Unlimited Data device as a special unlimited data carrier.
You could also have to switch it to a special Unlimited Data phone.
If we get a look at the special iPhone, we’ll update this story.10.
Does Verizon offer a new $30 unlimited iPhone?
No for the time being.
Verizon will start offering the $40 Unlimited iPhone starting March 15.
It’s worth noting that Verizon said customers will
