The answer to that question, as it turns out, depends on how you define ‘visible’.
“In the UK, the definition is that you need a device that can show that you have been using it for a certain period of time,” says Mr Hulme.
“So if you have a Samsung phone and it is showing that it has been used for a few weeks then you need to be able to show that.”
So how do you know when a device has been using your phone for a while?
“If you look at your phone, you can see the battery level,” he says.
If you’re using a Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone, for example, the battery will have a red bar next to it, indicating that it’s been using the device for at least eight hours. “
That’s a very good indication that your phone has been on the same device for a long time.”
If you’re using a Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone, for example, the battery will have a red bar next to it, indicating that it’s been using the device for at least eight hours.
If you look for the same indicator on your iPhone, it’s probably still plugged into the charger.
“When I use my phone, I’ll look at the battery on the back of the phone and see if it shows anything different,” Mr Hui says.
He explains that a lot of phones don’t actually have an ‘average’ battery life, but “a high number that is actually good”.
“So you can have a phone with a battery that’s only been used once for four hours and it will have no indication that it was ever on the charger.”
If your phone is still using a charger, then your battery is getting too low to show up on your phone’s ‘average battery life’.
But that’s not all.
“It’s the same with the phone battery,” he adds.
“If it’s showing no indication of being charged, then it’s not using a good charger.
It’s still on the phone.
But if it’s still showing an indication that the battery is going low, then the phone is charging.”
How do you tell if your phone battery is low?
If you have your smartphone charged for more than two hours, then there’s a good chance that it is still charging.
“The way I like to look at it is that it should be showing a lot less than that,” he explains.
“You should have an indication of how low the battery life is.
If the battery shows no indication it’s using a bad charger.
But the thing that will help you find out is if it turns on and off, and the brightness goes up and down.”
If it’s turning on and on and the battery indicator shows no difference, then “there’s a problem”.
If you see a little bit of an indication, then you’re probably using a “bad” battery.
If it does, then a good battery is likely to be in the process of getting charged, so you might be able figure out that it may be time to replace the battery.
The problem with ‘average batteries’ is that they can be inaccurate.
“They don’t always tell you the battery’s low,” Mr Faull says.
If your battery shows a green bar on the screen, that’s good.
“But if the bar shows no indicator at all, then maybe you need an extra battery,” Mr Valkenhorst adds.
But that will depend on the smartphone, as well as the device itself.
“For the most part, the good batteries will usually have an indicator, but it will often be a little hard to see,” Mr O’Toole says.
So what can you do if you’re unsure about whether your battery’s really low?
Mr Fausch says that “if you see that bar on your screen and it looks normal, that means it’s good, that you haven’t put it on the wrong charger, that it doesn’t have too much charge left,” Mr Ruhl adds.
If that happens, “just go ahead and replace the phone.”
“It won’t necessarily mean that it will get a new battery, but that it’ll have a good one,” Mr Clements adds.
The most important thing to remember is that “the battery on your smartphone will always be charged,” says Mike Faully, head of technical services at Vodafone.

Whether you know or not, that battery will always get a good charge.”

The battery in a smartphone is the amount of energy that’s left in the battery, which can vary from device to device.
“We can tell that by looking at the charge levels of the battery,” says Tim Larkin from EV Plug, an independent energy supplier. “There’s
